Project Complete

Ally turns 4 on Saturday.  She is growing up so fast.  One of her favorite things to do is to play dress up, and right now she loves to dress up as a princess.

I decided that instead of buying a princess dress I would attempt to make one.  I started my project on Monday night when I went and bought all my supplies.  It was fun to pick out a pattern and to then pick out the material and color.  Her favorite color is pink, so of course I had to make her a pink dress.  I have never worked with satin or sheer fabrics, but I was up for the adventure.

Part way through the project I was frustrated with the fabric but things were going ok, I only had to tear out my work a few times.  But I decided to take a break from the satin and sheer and work with some cotton for a little bit, so I whipped up what is now my new favorite dress for Ally.  It was completed in less than an hour.  I will defiantly be making this type of dress again.

Well back to the project at hand I got all the way to the zipper and couldn’t for the life of me remember how to put in a zipper.  So much thanks to  Installing a Zipper ~ Tutorial by Michelle « Sew,Mama,Sew! Blog your tutorial was a great help and I made it through the zipper without any frustration.

I love the dress and hope Ally does too.  Now I will have to think up another project to start soon.

Thanks, I’m just getting back into sewing after years of not doing a whole lot. You have been an inspiration, I have been following your blog. My daughter is pretty easy to please, just make something pink.
